How do you choose a limo or party bus company in Scottsdale?

Choose by asking eight questions and keeping the company that answers all eight in writing before you pay: the published rate and minimum, what is added on top, the deposit and balance timing, the cancellation terms, short-notice availability, the alcohol rule, how airport trips are priced, and whether it is permitted, licensed and insured. Scottsdale Sprinters answers each one below, from the same numbers its checkout uses. A quote that arrives as one round number is hard to compare. A published hourly rate, a stated minimum and a stated tax rate let you work out the total yourself in a minute, and they let you check any other provider the same way. The table that follows is the whole checklist. The sections after it explain each row in plain words, with the arithmetic shown.

What should be on the checklist?

Eight questions: price, extras on top, deposit, cancellation, short notice, alcohol, airport pricing and insurance. The table gives our answer to each. Is the hourly rate published, with the minimum? Yes: every vehicle’s rate and minimum are on the pricing page, for example Party Bus (28 Pax) at $250 an hour with a 4-hour minimum. (Where to check: Pricing page.) What is added on top of the rate? 8% Arizona sales tax at checkout. No booking fee and no fuel surcharge. Gratuity is optional. (Where to check: Checkout and pricing page.) How much is the deposit, and when is the balance due? On a card, a 50% deposit holds the date and the confirmation sets out the balance and its timing; some payment methods are paid in full at checkout. (Where to check: Policies page.) What if plans change? Cancel 14 or more days before pickup for a full refund on a standard booking; a free one-time date change is available when asked 72 or more hours ahead. (Where to check: Policies page.) Can I book at short notice? Same-day bookings are accepted with no cutoff, subject to availability, and the written quote says what is open. (Where to check: Same-day guide.) What is the alcohol rule? Riders 21 and over may bring their own; nothing is sold on board, and no alcohol comes on a trip with anyone under 21. (Where to check: Alcohol rules guide.) How is an airport run priced? One-way trips are flat within 15 road miles from pickup to drop-off, and priced from the drive beyond that, with the empty return included: Luxury SUV (Suburban) $225, Executive Black Sprinter $295. (Where to check: Airport transfer guide.) Is the company permitted, licensed and insured? Yes: Scottsdale Sprinters is permitted, licensed and insured. (Where to check: About page.)

What is the published rate and minimum?

Every vehicle has an hourly rate and a minimum number of hours, published on the pricing page: Luxury SUV (Suburban) $125 an hour, Executive Black Sprinter $145, Limo Party Sprinter (16 Pax) $175, Party Bus (28 Pax) $250, with minimums of 4 to 5 hours depending on the vehicle (56-Passenger Motorcoach included). The minimum matters as much as the rate, because a short trip is billed as the minimum. At its minimum the Party Bus (28 Pax) is $1,000 before tax ($1,080 with it) for up to 28 riders, and the Executive Black Sprinter is $580 before tax ($626 with it) for up to 14. You rent the whole vehicle, so the total does not move with the headcount. Divide it by the people riding to get a per-person figure.

What gets added on top of the rate?

Arizona sales tax of 8% is added at checkout, and gratuity is optional. There is no booking fee and no fuel surcharge on the base fare, and the chauffeur and every stop on an hourly itinerary are inside the hourly rate. Ask any company the same question and ask for the answer in writing. Fees that show up first on the final invoice are the usual reason a comparison goes wrong. One-way and round-trip bookings add $50 for each added stop; an hourly booking has none, because the time is already bought.

How do the deposit and balance work?

On a card, a 50% deposit holds your date, and the written confirmation sets out the balance and its timing. Some payment methods are paid in full at checkout, with no balance to follow. Ask where the deposit is held and when the rest is due; the answer should be on the quote. The deposit percentage is published; the timing of the balance is in your confirmation.

What are the cancellation terms?

On a standard booking, cancel 14 or more days before pickup for a full refund; between 72 hours and 14 days the deposit is kept and the rest refunded; inside 72 hours it is non-refundable. Large groups and major-event dates run on longer windows, listed on the policies page. A date change is the cheaper way out when plans move: ask 72 or more hours before pickup and the date moves once, free, subject to availability, with the deposit travelling to the new date.

Can I book at short notice?

Availability varies by date and by vehicle. Same-day bookings are welcome with no cutoff, subject to availability. Request a current quote for your date and we confirm in writing what is open. The same-day guide explains what to send and what comes back, and when a phone call is faster than a form.

What is the alcohol rule on board?

Riders 21 and over may bring their own alcohol and drink on board a for-hire vehicle in Arizona; nothing is sold on board, the chauffeur does not drink, and if anyone under 21 rides, no alcohol comes on that trip. Arizona’s open-container law, A.R.S. § 4-251, carries an exception for passengers in a for-hire vehicle. A company that cannot explain its alcohol rule in two sentences has not thought about it.

How is an airport transfer priced?

A one-way transfer has no hourly minimum and is flat within 15 road miles from pickup to drop-off, and priced from the drive beyond that, with the empty return included: $225 in the Luxury SUV (Suburban) for up to 6, $295 in the Executive Black Sprinter for up to 14. The quote shows the number before you pay, so there is nothing to discover at the curb.

What proof of service quality should you look for?

Look for ratings from a public source you can open yourself. Scottsdale Sprinters shows a 5.0-star Google rating (544 Google reviews), 4.9 stars on Yelp. Read the recent reviews rather than the average, and look for ones that describe a pickup time, a vehicle and a chauffeur. A rating tells you how it went for others; the published terms tell you how it will go for you.

Which vehicle fits your group?

Match the seats to the group with room to spare: Luxury SUV (Suburban) up to 6, Executive Black Sprinter up to 14, Limo Party Sprinter (16 Pax) up to 16, Party Bus (28 Pax) up to 28, and 56-Passenger Motorcoach up to 56. The fleet table below carries the rate and minimum of each. For a group that straddles two sizes, compare the two totals; the larger vehicle often costs less per person once the cabin is full.
