Where is ASU Gammage?

ASU Gammage is at 1200 S. Forest Avenue, Tempe, AZ 85281, on the Tempe campus of Arizona State University, where Broadway’s touring productions play the Valley. Frank Lloyd Wright designed the building, and the house has three seating levels: the orchestra, the grand tier and the balcony. The casts are the professional touring Broadway companies, not student productions, the venue says. Its box office opens two hours before events on performance days, and tickets are sold only through ASU Gammage and Ticketmaster; third-party sellers are not authorized. The theatre’s own lot, the Gold Lot, is Lot 3, entered from S. Forest Avenue at Lemon Street. The Maroon Garage, the Apache Boulevard structure, is entered from S. Normal Avenue north of Apache Boulevard.

How does parking work at ASU Gammage?

For Broadway, Beyond and School of Music performances, parking at ASU Gammage is included in the ticket price. Where do rideshare and chauffeured groups drop off at ASU Gammage?

ASU Gammage publishes no rideshare, limo or charter zone, so a chauffeured group unloads where ASU Gammage and ASU staff direct on the night. Its parking and accessibility pages do name designated drop-off areas at both theatre entrances, in their accessible-parking notes, where a driver can let members of a party out before parking. Nothing here is a reserved lane for booked vehicles. The chauffeur drives the approach the night allows, lets the group out where staff direct, and agrees one pickup point for after the curtain call. If the venue publishes a drop-off plan for a show, that plan replaces this paragraph. What is the ASU Gammage bag policy?

ASU Gammage screens every guest with metal detectors and allows one carry-in item per person: a clear bag up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches, or a small purse or bag, clear or not, up to 8.5 by 5.5 inches, about a folded sheet of letter paper. Every bag is subject to search, and the strap does not count. Not allowed: weapons of any kind, pepper spray, any non-clear bag larger than the small-purse size, drinks and drink containers, full-size strollers, and wrapped presents or packages, which must be unwrapped to be inspected. A factory-sealed water, or an empty plastic or metal bottle of 32 ounces or less, is allowed. Items that fail the check go back to the owner’s car or in the bin, the venue says. A group that is dropped off has no car in the garage to walk back to, so settle bags and holiday gifts at the hotel. The detectors use no magnetic waves and are safe with a pacemaker.

How do you get to ASU Gammage?

Drivers reach ASU Gammage from Apache Boulevard: the venue’s directions leave US 60 at Mill Avenue (exit 173) or Rural Road, Loop 101 at Broadway Road or University Drive by the Price Road frontage, and Loop 202 at Scottsdale Road, then turn north on S. Forest Avenue for the Gold Lot or S. Normal Avenue for the Maroon Garage. Valley Metro lists four connections at ASU Gammage: bus Route 66 (Mill Avenue and Kyrene Road), FLASH, Orbit Jupiter and the Tempe Streetcar. It lists no light rail station as a connection there.
